The troupe’s melee pioneer, Illa, is a “nerdy coward,” Claynoc is a “mean loner,” and Grifius is a “decisive greedy.” I don’t know if ‘greedwagon’ is an appropriate word, but if not, it should be. I let random pickers choose name, appearance, gender, etc., but I tinker with their personalities to make them as unsuitable for heroism as possible. To that end, we’ll start with the first campaign “Age of Ulstryx” and create three new characters – a female warrior named Illa Broadmill, a male hunter named Claynoc Bottlepurse, and a male mystic named Grifius Kylling By. Characters always make the most reckless narrative decisions. I wanted to organize a goofy, narcissistic bastard party and have them traverse the picturesque fantasy world of Wildermyth like a bachelorette party lost at the local golf course.ġ. The kind of narcissist who truly believes that only they can save the world, who make all the worst, most reckless decisions and somehow smell of roses. So I wanted to create some legends that, if not entirely worthy of the title, at least accurately represent the type of vicious personality that has been twisted into role models by time and patriarchy. Julius Caesar? He really is one of the most destructive humans ever, and he brags about it. Christopher Columbus? So horrific that his medieval contemporaries thought he was a Jeb. Richard the Lionheart? Total chaos for a king. You just have to look at history to find countless examples of this. But the thing about legends is that the people behind them often, for no better word, sting. Wildermyth is a game about creating legends, where heroic tales are passed down from generation to generation.
